The work originates from my childhood memories, when I used to be fascinated by the stories of the Paladins of France told by my dear uncle, who described the feats of these heroes amidst battles and loves to be conquered. In the Sicilian tradition, the stories of the paladins spread around the 18th century and were likened to events and characters from our island. This painting shows a stark contrast between the fervour of the duellists and the peaceful background, where a smiling sun shines and a princess awaits. A curtain with traditional decorations opens the battle scene and gives a strong graphic connotation to the whole fresco.
